Timber from Forest Thinning
This is an initiative to make the utmost use of trees thinned from the Natural Water Sanctuary of Suntory, a major Japanese beverage and liquor company. Products designed by Ryohin Keikaku and IDÉE are used at both Suntory headquarters and MUJI stores. For example, charcoal for the tea ceremony brazier was made from saw thorn oak. Due to its beautiful cut end surface it was sold at Found MUJI in Aoyama and the Suntory Art Museum. Another type of oak is used as flooring material at MUJI and MUJI to Go stores.
