MUJI debuted in December 1980 as a private brand of Seiyu Store (now Seiyu GK) with 40 products, mainly foods. Now MUJI stores are operating in 32 countries and regions including Japan.
Established in 1989, Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. handles every step from the planning, development and manufacture of MUJI goods to their distribution and sale. It also runs other businesses such as the operation of Café&Meal MUJI, IDÉE and MUJI campsites.
